The Capital Arts Patrons’ Organisation (CAPO) is pleased to announce the opening of the 2012 round of awards with an application closing date of 3 August for the 11 awards this year.

CAPO is a volunteer non-profit organisation that has supported the ACT region’s artists for 29 years. Since its establishment in 1983, CAPO has disbursed over 1.8 million dollars in arts fellowships and awards with support from Canberra’s local, national and international business communities.

CAPO awards support all art forms and media. Award applications are invited from artists and arts organisations from Canberra and the region. The Reading Room CAPO London Exhibition Award Exchange is open to artists throughout Australia. A new award being sponsored by McGrath Woden will be given to an emerging artist from the Canberra region. The Rosalie Gascoigne Memorial Award is partly sponsored by Community CPS Credit Union.

Past award winners include performing artists and companies, visual artists and arts organisations, contemporary craft artists, designer makers, filmmakers, new media artists and writers.

CAPO seeks to foster the highest standards of excellence in the arts whether the individual or organisation seeking support is of professional or amateur standing. Innovative endeavours that contribute to cultural development in Canberra are encouraged. Awards will be made to fund those needs in the region. This year’s CAPO award categories are:
