CAPO Opens its 30th Annual Grants Round for Canberra Artists
In its 30th year, Capital Arts Patrons Organisation (CAPO) invites applications from Canberra Artists for fourteen awards with a value ranging from $500 to $25,000. An online application form and guidelines are available here. Applications close at midnight on Friday October 25, 2013.
CAPO grants support excellence in the arts, significant opportunities for artists to develop their career, and innovative community cultural development projects.
Since its beginnings in 1983, CAPO has awarded in excess of 1.8 million dollars to over 330 artists and arts organisations. In 2012, CAPO’s 11 grant recipients received support to the value of over $60 000.
CAPO raises money through business sponsorship and donations, and through its annual art exhibition and auction. Artworks donated by Canberra’s leading and acclaimed artists are on show and for sale. The CAPO exhibition is widely regarded by critics and collectors as an important annual survey of art in our region.
In 2013, Canberra’s Centenary, the auction will be held at Canberra Museum and Gallery on Saturday November 23. CAPO president, Neil Doody says:
“CAPO’s the longest running philanthropic arts organisation in Australia and it’s great to be sharing a significant birthday with our city.”
The recipients of CAPO grants and awards for 2014 will be announced at the event. Applicants can apply for the following categories online or by mail.
